2104 – Road to Hana

The road to Hana, on the north side of Maui, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in the world. The lush tropical jungles in the mountains high above the amazingly blue ocean are filled with breathtaking waterfalls and magnificent scenic overlooks. The following paintings were the result of inspiration stimulated by the wonderful memory of being there.

Of special interest are the second and third paintings; Road to Hana 6 and 7. They were intended to be similar and related and so were painted at the same time. However, 6 was painted on 9 – 20″ x 16″ canvases and 7 was painted on one 60 x 48 canvas. In order to exemplify what the artist had in mind when creating them, Maya was used to make an image of a room to put them in. It is the second image below.
