The title for Michael's 10th CD "xFmr" is an electrical
engineering abbreviation for "transformer". The subject of this CD is
transformations, which are constantly happening all around and within us. Composed between December of 2005 and July of 2006, xFmr, is a collection of six interrelated compositions elicited from generative algorithms. Csound, Cmask, Excel were the primary tools employed to accomplish a unique approach to algorithmic composition, which is primarily based upon sample manipulation. "Seeds" meticulously created using tendency masks were planted in the garden. As they grew the garden was cultivated and pruned until what was left growing was xFmr. You can listen
to an excerpt from the CD here. |
