Michael Rhoades is a composer and theorist in the area of Electroacoustic and Computer Music. Utilizing the computer music programming language Csound, a stochastic event generator for Csound scores called Cmask, Mathematica, Microsoft Excel, Sound Forge and Sonar as well as other commercially available software, his algorithmic compositions are realized entirely in the digital realm. This combined with standard and experimental synthesis techniques has made an entirely new sound pallet available.

In the recent past composers were limited to hearing their work played by musicians, perhaps while being recorded. Current technology has enabled the composer to work like painters, writers or sculptors; actually creating the listening experience as they work. This has caused a quantum shift in the possibilities of music. Michael Rhoades' work is one of  the results of this new ability.
